ARTIST BIO

Dan Higgins is an Australian country singer-songwriter and live entertainer with a passion for music, adventure and bringing people together. His uplifting music and energetic live performances are driven by a desire to create fun, memorable experiences and encourage people to live happier, more fulfilled lives.

Raised on the Higgins family farm at Nowendoc on the Northern Tablelands of NSW, Dan grew up immersed in music, adventure and a strong family tradition of performing. Playing alongside his brothers in settings ranging from church to festivals and busking events, Dan developed a passion for songwriting and a desire to use music to bring people together.

After being recognised with Song of the Week at the Pickin’ Pen Songwriter’s Night in Tamworth, Dan teamed up with Lawrie Minson and Steve Newton to record his first studio release, Home For Me, in 2014. He went on to study songwriting at JMC Academy in Melbourne before returning to the studio in 2018 to record The Hand. The single spent 10 weeks in the Australian Country Tracks Top 40 and received radio airplay across Australia and internationally, including the UK, New Zealand and USA. Its accompanying music video, produced by David Carter of Crestway Productions, also received CMC and CMR Nashville airplay.

Dan’s debut album, Make Love Enough, was released in 2021 and produced by Golden Guitar-winning producer Matt Fell. Recorded in Sydney, the album brings together Dan’s influences in country and folk music and showcases his passion for songwriting.

Following his early success, Dan released a series of nationally charting singles, including The Hand, Isn’t It A Shame and Ain’t Gonna Bottle It Up. His music has achieved significant radio airplay across Australia and internationally, with Isn’t It A Shame reaching #5 and Ain’t Gonna Bottle It Up reaching #6 on the Australian Country Tracks Top 40 and with music videos broadcast on CMT Australia and Vevo globally.

His songwriting has also received recognition through multiple Australian Songwriters Association Top 30 finalist nominations between 2018 and 2020, as well as an APRA AMCOS/TSA New Songwriter Award finalist nomination in 2018.

Throughout his career, he has worked with music producers Steve Newton and Matt Fell, alongside film producers Duncan Toombs and The Filmery, David Carter of Crestway Productions, and Daniel Kuberek of Open Gate Films.

While rooted in country and folk, Dan Higgins’ music is distinguished by its warm, uplifting spirit, blending heartfelt storytelling with a sound reminiscent of artists such as Paul Kelly and Steve Earle.

Dan’s passion for music extends beyond the stage and into creating experiences that get people involved. A lifelong lover of bush dancing and line dancing, in 2026 he launched a new platform bringing his passion for music and dance together.

Through fun, high-energy live shows, Dan combines live country music with bush dancing and line dancing to create memorable experiences for people. His performances are designed to get people out of their seats, involved in the action and enjoying music together.

Away from music, Dan enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, restoring old tractors and machinery, and pursuing adventures on water, land and snow. A trained surveyor and inventor at heart, he is always up for a new challenge.

At the heart of Dan’s work is a simple desire: to use music, creativity and shared experiences to bring people together, have fun and create memories that last a lifetime.
